SANFORD - Robert Lee Orrell, 60, 2422 Holly Ave., a former outdoor writer for the Sanford Evening Herald, died Tuesday at Seminole Memorial Hospital.

Born in Seville, Mr. Orrell moved here in 1969 from Daytona Beach, where he had lived for 20 years, after his retirement from Independent Life Insurance Company.

An avid outsdoorsman, he was a supporter and committee member of Friends of the St. Johns. Mr. Orrell was a member of the Church of Christ. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his widow, Ruth; three sons, Robert S., Daytona Beach; Barry L., Orlando; Brian D., Sanford; three daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Pennington, Daytona Beach; Mrs. Brenda Noah, Deltona, and Mrs. Beverly Beckwith, Sanford; four sisters, Maggie Beasley, Bessie Ford and Nell Watts, all of DeLand, and Marian Aly, Apopka, and seven grandchildren. Brisson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
