                                      RUFUS BRAMMER

Rufus Brammer, who resided near Jumping Branch,
died Friday morning about 11 o'clock very suddenly.
He was   riding   horseback   to a field to oversee some
farm work and fell from the horse he was riding. Other
members of the family seeing his fall rushed to his aid,
but he died within a very few minutes. It is thought that
his death was due to heart failure.
Mr. Brammer was 63 years of age and leaves a wife,
who was Miss Virginia Hale, and seven children. The
daughters are Mrs G D Burch, of Hinton; Mrs Edmond
Cook of Beckley and Misses Lina and Lottie Brammer,
of Jumping Branch. Three sons, George and Oliver, of
Beckley, and Zed, of Jumping Branch. He leaves one
brother,  John Brammer, of near Mercer Salt Works,
and two sisters, Mr. Jehu Griffith, of Virginia, and Mrs.
James Lilly, of Dunns, Mercer county.
Mr. Brammer was from near Franklin Court House,
Va, and with his father moved to Flat Top many years
ago. He settled near Jumping Branch later, where he
has since resided. Mr. Brammer was an excellent citizen
and will be greatly missed by the people of that section.
He was very  well known in Hinton  where he leaves
numerous friends, who will regret to learn of his
sudden death.
The remains will be buried at the family graveyard
Sunday beside his son, Lundy, who died on May 7.
