Margaret was born at home on March 20, 1932, in the rural Marshalltown area. She was the daughter of William R. and Clara V. Thomas. Margaret was the youngest of seven siblings. She was raised in the Marshalltown area and attended Pleasant Valley Country School, southeast of town.
Margaret married Glen L. Ingledue in 1950 and they were later divorced. Together they had five children. She was a hard worker who enjoyed being outside and working on the farm and raising their five children. After surviving cancer at age 31, she then worked outside the home in housekeeping, first working at Pine Lake Country Club, for a time at Grandview Heights, and last at Villa del Sol prior to retiring at 65.
Margaret loved mowing the yard and tending her gardens. A lover of animals, she found great joy in bird-watching and putting out food for feral cats and dogs. Margaret was an excellent cook. She enjoyed reading and watching TV, her favorites being Wheel of Fortune and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Margaret is remembered by her family for her generous spirit of giving and coincidentally, her reluctance to be on the receiving end of such generosity.
Margaret is survived by her children, Ginger (Harry) Athas of Manchester, Tim Ingledue of Eldora, Glena (Jerry) Nolting of Fairbank, Chuck (Renee) Ingledue of Emmons, Minnesota, and Richard (Darla) Ingledue of Marshalltown. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law Cleo (Arthur) Thomas of Melcher, Iowa.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clara; brothers, Neil, Henley, and Arthur; sisters, Velma, Dorthea, and Marjorie; Glen Ingledue; longtime friend, Robert Conner; and her grand-dog Chelsey, who frequently paid her visits.
