Sophrona was admitted to the State Asylum in Willard on 19 September 1874. She was transferred to the Binghamton State Hospital Asylum when it opened on 19 October 1881. She died there as a patient, and was buried in the hospital's cemetery. She does not appear on the list of 1500 burials that were moved from the original cemetery to the upper cemetery in 1961, when Interstate 81 was constructed. However, those enumerated burials postdate her death. It is unknown whether specific cemetery records were kept prior to 1919, which is the earliest date for those burials that appear on the list.
