Heart and liver troubles caused the death of Martin Sherr on Sunday night at 7 o'clock at his home, No. 431 South Christian street, after an illness of four months. Mr. Sherr was in his sixty-seventh year and he was a native of Germany, but came to this country with his parents when fourteen years of age. He was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Sherr. Mr. Sherr lived near Strasburg until seventeen years ago, when he came to Lancaster. He had been nightwatchman at the cotton mills until his last illness. Deceased was a member of Vetlan Veteran Castle, No. 492, K.G.E., and of Memorial Presbyterian Church. Mr. Sherr was twice married, his first wife, Christianna Smeltz, having died many years ago. There survive his widow, who was Elizabeth Baughman, of Bart township, and these children: George, East Lampeter township; Adam, Strasburg; Elizabeth, wife of W.J. Kline, city; Emma, wife of Albert Ellerman, Scranton; Mary, wife of Ernest Crossen, city; Clara, wife of Jacob Bechtold, city, and Frank, of Lancaster. He is also survived by the following step-daughters: Miss Clara Myers, at home; Miss Josephine Myers, Miss Bessie, wife of Frederic Stoe, and Pearl, wife of William Schaeffer, all of Lancaster. Frank and Joseph Sherr are brothers of deceased.
