HAROLD H. HELMKE, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007, at Hospice Home. Born on Dec. 20, 1925, in Fort Wayne, he was employed with Terra Fertilizer Corp. 30 years, he reitired as a lead operator, in 1990. A World War II Army veteran, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of Holy Scripture Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Post 10006, and RSVP. Surviving are sons, Gary and Duane Helmke, both of Fort Wayne, and Dennis Helmke of Monroeville; daughters, Karen Campbell of Fort Wayne, and Denise Helmke of San Antonio, Texas; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Virgil Helmke of Oregon; sisters, Esther Placek of Fort Wayne, Beulah Dohrmann and Gloria Beaske, both of Woodburn, and Lillian Magnuson of Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara. Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Scripture Lutheran Church, 4778 Kinnerk Road, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Paul Jansen officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Avenue. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Donations to the Holy Scripture Lutheran Church Building Fund.
