Bernville - Rufus Z. Bashore, 98, of Bernville, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021 at Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Cathaline J. (Ratlief), who passed away Aug. 22, 1993.
Rufus, a son of the late Harvey M. and Laura (Ziegler) Bashore, was born in Greble. He was a self-employed dairy farmer. He was the last surviving founder of Centerport Milk Hauling Cooperative. He was a faithful member of Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, Bethel. He was also a member of PA Farmers Assoc., PA Farm Bureau, Berks County Holstein Club, Bethel Food Pantry, and the Ontelaunee Grange.
He is survived by children, Terry L. Bashore, husband of Louise (Troutman), Donald G. Bashore, husband of Carol Ann (Mengel), Ricki R. Bashore, husband of Roberta (Troutman), Steve A. Bashore, husband of Leann (Correll), Robert L. Bashore husband of Sherry (Donmoyer), and Judy C. Kramer; two brothers, Alvin Z. and Harvey D. Bashore; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia A. Boltz; a brother, Ammon Z. Bashore; three sisters, Betty Brubaker, Miriam Hain, and Shirley Bashore; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, Feb. 22nd, at Little Swatara Church of the Brethren, 31 E. Rehrersburg Rd., Bethel, with his pastor, the Rev. Matt Christ officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00AM, Monday, at the church. Burial will be in Little Swatara Church Cemetery. Hill Funeral Home, 111 Godfrey St., Rehrersburg, is handling arrangements.
