US Congressman. He served as a delegate to the State Constitutional convention in 1817 and was a Brigadier General of the Mississippi Militia in 1818. He was a member of the Mississippi State Senate, in 1820, Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi, in 1821, Postmaster of Jackson, in 1822 and Secretary of the State Senate in 1833. In 1835, he was elected as an Anti-Jacksonian to the Twenty-fourth Congress and served until his death.
