Thomas Lydon is the son of Bernard and Velva Lydon. He grew up on the farm and became a farmer by trade. He married Ila Sloss of Guthrie Center, Iowa and had five children: Joy Delaine, Craig Thomas (stillborn), Julie Annette, Paul Anthony, and Nita Lynette.

Tommy was a story teller and loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved to tell stories about his childhood and was an adverturous child. He loved to trap and hunt and enjoying the great outdoors.

He loved the land and was very conservation minded and was ahead of his time. He was active in his church: New Bethel Methodist and the United Methodist Church in Adair, Iowa.

He and his wife, Ila, loved visiting their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling together with family and friends.
