FORMER SALINE COUNTY RESIDENT DIED IN SEDALIA FRIDAY

Death of Mrs. Emily Frances Alkire Occurs. Funeral Services Held Saturday.


Mrs. M. J. Alkire, for many years a resident of Saline county, died at her home at Sedalia, June 18, 1925. She was 73 years of age. The funeral was held at Sedalia the following afternoon. Those from Slater and vicinity who were there for the funeral were: Mrs. J. E. Jones, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Willming and Eugene Kirby.


Mrs. Emily Frances Alkire was born in St. Charles county, Mo., March 9, 1852. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Erskine. She was married on December 23, 1875, to M. J. Alkire, who survives her. Three of the six children born to this union also survive; they are: Arthur N. Alkire and Henry C. Alkire of Kansas City, and M. Hampton Alkire of Sedalia. The deceased also leaves two sisters, Miss Kate Erskine, of the home, and Mrs. Eliza Murdock of Chino, Calif.


Mrs. Alkire and her family lived on a farm in the Saline City neighborhood for many years. They moved to Sedalia about ten years ago.
