Amos F. Bartlett was born in Nebraska on April 15, 1936, to Louis F and Lois I (Stanton) Bartlett. One of seven children, his early years were spent growing up on a farm in Nebraska. His family moved to California in the 1940s, settling in Sutter County.
Amos enjoyed talking about what it was like to grow up on a farm. He would gladly tell you stories of 'the old days'. Amos especially loved being outside and had a love for all animals. One of his favorite pets growing up was a dog named Elmer. He worked as a logger most of his adult life, moving around and in his later years, he settled in the Foresthill area in Placer County.
Amos passed away in January of 2021 after a full life and his ashes will be buried in the Sutter Cemetery, Sutter California, alongside his mother and other family members.
He will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He attended the Pioneer School, a one-room schoolhouse, where half the other students were his siblings. They had no electricity or running water, and lit their house with kerosene lamps and cooked on a wood stove. The family moved to California in 1947, and Amos graduated from Yuba City High school in 1953. He married Evon Hewitt, and they raised their family in Rio Dell, California, in the heart of the redwood forests. Amos worked in reforestation, where he planted more than a million trees throughout the hills of Northern California. It was not uncommon, when driving through the woods, to hear Amos say, "I planted that forest." His family considers this his special legacy.
He had a unique sense of humor that endeared him to his family and many friends. He claimed this was the only way to survive being raised with five sisters. Later in his life, he lived in Foresthill, California where he cut and sold wood, had many friends, and liked singing karaoke. He kept in touch with family, calling them nearly every day. He was hospitalized on Jan. 6 and died on Jan. 10 of congestive heart failure.
He is survived by his children, Pamela Bartlett, Kimberly Hewitt, Barry Bartlett and Ronald Bartlett, 2 granddaughters, Britney and Hayden, his ex-wife Evon Bowling, and his siblings, Vern Bartlett, Marilyn Visic, and Karolyn Godat. He is predeceased by his sisters Bonnie Castaneda, Mina Allen and Jean Hoover. Services have been held. He will be buried in the Sutter Cemetery near Yuba City, California.
