Louisa married James in 1898 and had at least four children with him: Homer, Crawford, Jocie and Presley French. Louisa was the daughter of Enos Francis McCollum and Anna Rozella (Vinzant) McCollum. She was the granddaughter of a Cherokee woman, whose Native American name was believed to be "Mary Raven Whitehorse."
