Lance Eckman, 79, of Murphy, North Carolina formerly of Wabash, Indiana, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, in an Atlanta, Georgia hospital.

He was a native of Wabash, Indiana where he had lived all of his life until moving to Murphy in 2014. Lance was a 1959 graduate of Wabash High School. He had worked for Container Corporation of America for twenty-five years retiring as superintendent of the powerhouse. Lance then formed his own company, Asbestos Removal, Inc., which he operated alongside his family for the next seventeen years. He also drove a truck for Schneider National until fully retiring in 2000.

Lance was a member of Wabash Eagles and longtime Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. Lance was an avid woodworker, fisherman, hunter, enjoyed online poker and watching Westerns.

He was the son of the late Charlie and Bertha Eckman. Lance was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Kay Eckman Ralston.

Surviving is his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Karen Sue Eckman; two sons, Bret Eckman and wife, Theresa, of Wabash, Indiana, and Mark Charles Eckman, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and a grandson, Kristopher Lance Eckman, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
