Ella (Elna) was born July 15, 1867 in Wrangebeck, Sofde moder/Fars, Sweden to Martin & Ingar (Andreasdotter) Martenssen. She married Nels Hans Anderson on September 11, 1887 in Winnebago County, Rockford, IL.
Ella and Nels lived in Rockford until 1899 when the 400 acre Silas Shirley farm was rented near Cherry Valley. They lived there nine years until moving to the Schmauss farm. Then a move was made to the Kindell farm on the corner of Simpson and Prairie Roads. Lastly, they moved to the Levings Lake Farm and lived there six years. They then retired from farming and moved to Rockford.
She was a mother to; Helen (Charles) Ring, Selma (Grant) Gustafson, Hilmer (Edna) Anderson, Clarence (Katherine) Anderson, Agnes Victoria (Ashley) Hagaman, Blanch (Einar) Fredrickson. Ruby (Paul) Lundberg & Glen (Dorothy) Anderson.
She died May 27, 1937 in the home of her daughter, Blanche (Einar) Fredrickson, 3432 Rutherford Avenue, Chicago and brought to Rockford for burial May 30, 1937 in Arlington Cemetery.
