She worked as a nurse for most of her career in multiple nursing homes and private duty. She also worked as a cashier at multiple gas station convenience stores later in her career. She loved to give back and volunteered her time to 4H teaching crochet, to the church and to Rainbow’s End Youth Services in Mount Joy, where she eventually became the Executive Director. For a few years, she owned and ran her own yarn shop called Kitty Knit.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting ceramics, and crafts of all sorts. She always socialized as much as possible with family and friends.
She is survived by three children: Dena M. Reimund, married to David, of Michigan, David R. Darrenkamp, of Mount Joy and James W. Darrenkamp, married to Sherri, of Maytown. Also surviving are four grandchildren, two step grandsons, as well as Catherine’s extended family and caring friends.
