Gilbert Williamson, 85, of Clayton, Texas passed away on Thursday night, January 28, 2021, in Carthage, Texas. Gilbert Wilene Griffin was born on December 6, 1935, in Minden, Texas to the late Rueben Marshall Griffin, Sr. and Alice Louisa Parker Griffin. She graduated from Minden High School with the class of 1955, and attended Panola College where she was a cheerleader and earned an associate's degree, graduating with the class of 1957. Gilbert later attended Stephen F. Austin State University. She married Sidney Angus Williamson on August 30, 1957, at the Minden Baptist Church. Mrs. Williamson enjoyed playing the organ, doing jigsaw puzzles, coloring, shopping, going out to eat, and cheating at crossword puzzles. Most importantly, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She moved to Clayton in 1981, from Houston where she had worked as a bookkeeper for many years. Mrs. Williamson was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Gary. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy McCauley, Evelyn Simonds, and Wynell Webb; and brothers, Weldon and Reuben Marshall Griffin, Jr.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Sidney Williamson of Clayton; son, Dr. S. Mark Williamson and wife Darlene of Clayton; daughter, Missy McKeon and husband Chuck of Crosby; grandchildren, Joshua Williamson and wife Catey, Caleb Williamson and wife Katelyn, Andrew Williamson and wife Liz, and Sarah and Hannah McKeon; brother-in-law, John Webb of Mt. Enterprise; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Ross of Beckville.

*It was said at her funeral that Gilbert was always planning ahead and wrote her own obituary.
