Folk Figure, Businessman. Ignacio Torres Adalid, better known as "El Rey del Pulque" (The King of Pulque), was one of the great promoters of the pulquero business in central Mexico. He was a contemporary and friend of Porfirio Díaz, of 'Los Científicos' and Olegario Molina, who made his fortune thanks to henequen agave. Torres Adalid made his own thanks to the maguey (Agave atrovirens). He got involved in politics on several occasions to defend the pulque industry. At the end of his life, he sought to give a little back to all the people who helped him fight for his dream. That is why he created the foundation that bears his name.
