Mattie's mother was Sarah Cornelia Smith Applewhite who died between 1880 and 1884. Her father remarried in 1884 to Rebeccca Green.

Mrs. Maggie Brantley

Services for Mrs. Maggie Ora Applewhite Brantley, widow of the late W.A. Brantley, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Virginia Alice Coats of Columbia on May 14, were held Sunday afternoon, May 16, at the Kilmichael Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Sissell officiating. Lee Funeral home was in charge of arrangement.

Mrs. Brantley was born in Montgomery County Nov. 3, 1873. She was a member of the Kilmichael Methodist Church.

Mrs. Brantley leaves in addition to her daughter of Columbia, four sons, R.R. Brantley, Weir; T.D. Brantley, Kilmichael; M.S. Brantley, Mobile; and J.C. Brantley, Cleveland. Five Sisters, Mrs. Josie Tompkins, Kilmichael; Mrs. Stella Kitchens, Baton Rouge; Mrs. Lodie Applewhite Oliver, Jackson; Mrs. Allie Mae Farrish and Mrs. Sallie Farrish both of Shawnee, Oklahoma and one brother, Jack Applewhite of French Camp.

Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
