William Purvis Bridges

Services for William Purvis Bridges, 75, of Greenwood, who died Sunday, Aug. 20, 1989, at Golden Age Nursing Home after a long illness, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Williams & Lord Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Laney Haley and the Rev. C. Dell Baldwin will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery in Montgomery County.

Mr. Bridges was a native of Montgomery County and had lived in Greenwood for several years. He was a retired Baptist.

Survivors include seven daughters, Mrs. Margaret Green of Arlington, Texas, Mrs. Sarah Brown of Avalon, Mrs. Kaye Breaux of Jackson, Mrs. Brenda Woods of Greenville, Glenda Bynum of Sumrall, Mrs. Marilyn House of Donaldsville, Ga., and Mrs. Juanita Kroul of Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, William Purvis Bridges Jr. of Anguilla and Gilbert Bridges of Greenville; five sisters, Mrs. Margie Adams of Cypress, Texas, Mrs. Lorraine Chapman of Yazoo City, Mrs. Thelma Robins of New Hebron, Beatrice Morgan of Richland, and Mrs. Avenelle Evans of Greenville; three brothers, Edwin Bridges of Louise, Kermit Bridges of Flora and Delma Bridges of Bentonia; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Williamson, Billy Green, Sam Brown, Mike Vasquez, Mike Halbert and Bobby Bynum. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayford McClain and Phil Oxford.
