Marlene attended Bethany Public School and graduated in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald R. Gassett in May 1953. He preceded her in death in January 2020. She worked at Bell Telephone Company until she started her family and then became a homemaker.
Marlene attended Bethany First Church of the Nazarene her entire life. She served in roles including greeter, senior adult ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Caravan leader, camp counselor, choir member, and Offering Counting Team. She was a member of the Reach Out Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son, Bryant Gassett and wife Diane of Yukon, OK and daughter, DeLana Massey and husband Dale of Oklahoma City. Her pride and joy was her grandkids, Chad Gassett and wife Leah, Cole Gassett and wife Rachel, Taggert Harris, Jessie Harris, Eric Massey and Kyle Massey. She had one great- granddaughter, Maisy Gassett.
Marlene had a great gift of hospitality and would do anything for anybody. She was kind, positive, upbeat and a joy to be around. Marlene specifically requested a graveside service for immediate family only due to her concern that someone would catch COVID. Again, she is thinking of everyone’s well-being.
In lieu of flowers, please help us celebrate Marlene during these unprecedented times by sharing a memory or condolence in her guestbook.
