Bill’s Air Force career led them to live in many places around the country and Japan. Upon Bill’s retirement from the Air Force in 1976 they settled with their four children in Spokane Valley, Washington and became active members of St. Mary Catholic Church.
After her children were grown, Bernice built her dream waterfront home in Priest River, Idaho. Here she spent her time gardening, quilting, enjoying the outdoors, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was active in both St. Anthony’s and St. Catherine’s churches. Life was never slow or un-exciting. Activities abounded at Grandmas River.
Bernice leaves behind four children, Stacie Bays, Mike Bays (Karen), Steve Bays, and Jeff Bays (Alijean) and 16 grandchildren. Bernice is survived by two brothers Raymond (Rosa) Hager, Portland, OR, Kenneth (Judy) Hager, Devils Lake, ND; and two sisters Cecila Parkos, Crosslake, MN, and Maggie Evanson, Northwood, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
