John L. Wood,68, of Winfield, MO, passed away on January 13, 2021 at the VA Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on Dec. 15, 1952 in Herrin, IL to Harold and Flora (Childers) Wood. John attended the local schools along with his two siblings, James and Jason. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. John and Deborah were united in marriage on Sept. 7, 1974 in St. Louis. To this union were born two beautiful girls: Jennifer and Christina. John and Deborah settled in Winfield and raised their children. John was a sheet metal assembler for McDonnell- Douglas (now Boeing) and GKN. He was a devoted member of Winfield- Foley Fire Dept., working his way up from fireman to Asst. Fire Chief. He was devoted to the Fire Dept. and never missed a meeting or a call, if he was available. He made many good friends with firemen from his department and other local departments.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Deborah Wood of Winfield; two daughters: Jennifer (Randy O'Grady) of Warrenton and Christina (Jeremy) Hertweck of Troy; grandchildren: Ashley Penrose, Austin Taylor, Kaylie Burke, Wyatt Hertweck, Eian Hertwec and Owen Hertweck, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Flora Wood and siblings, James and Jason Wood.

Visitation scheduled on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., - Troy, MO 63378 (636) 528-8244.

Funeral scheduled on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at 11 a.m. at McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory- Troy location. Pastor Jane Kelley to officiate.
