Elmer Bargenquast, son of Fred and Margaret Bargenquast was born March 8, 1913 on a farm south of Manilla where he grew to manhood. He attended the Greeley Township school and later the Irwin High school. In February, 1928 his father died, and it was necessary for him to discontinue his studies and assist in the care of his younger brothers and sisters.
On June 20, 1932 he was married to Anna Laver. To this union were born three children, Lyle who died at the age of 5 years, Robert and Lois.
During infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran faith but later became a member of the Methodist church at Irwin.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, children Robert and Lois, his mother and stepfather, Mr and Mrs Joseph Hodder of Marne and the following brothers and sisters, Otto of Shelby, Frank of Hancock, Fritz of Council Bluffs, Roy of Underwood, Leo of Irwin, Mrs Viola (Dale) Snyder of Manilla, Mrs Leona (Harry) Schichling of Wapato, Washington, Mrs Ruby (Johnnie) Weber of Yakima, Washington, and Mrs Margaret (Richard) Van Horne of Irwin. One brother died in infancy.
Mr Bargenquast had been in ill health for the past five years and died of complications following surgery at the Jennie Edmundson hospital, on June 8 at the age of 39 years and 3 months.
Funeral services were held June 12 at the Methodist church in Irwin. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetrey.
