Rae Ann Davis, 85, passed away at Wheeler Place in Gainesville, Texas, January 9, 2021.
She was born January 20, 1935 in Lois, Texas to Tom Sterling and Dami Murl (Biggerstaff) Stephenson. Rae Ann attended Era and Valley View Schools. Graduating from Valley View in 1953. Rae Ann met Weldon Davis at a Sadie Hawkins Day function on February 29, 1952. They married May 22, 1953, at Valley View Church of Christ. At Weldon's death in 2014 they had been married 61 yrs. They enjoyed traveling in their RV all over America. Rae Ann did most of the driving. She enjoyed driving and would talk many times about how she could drive anywhere, because she had drove in New York City. In her later years she even enjoyed driving the aisles of Walmart and visiting with people.
Rae Ann and Weldon lived several places over the years, Denton, Dallas, Germany, Mesquite, Amarillo, Ardmore, Valley View and Gainesville. Amarillo was always her favorite place to live. She worked at KDNT radio in Denton, school libraries and residency secretary at Texas Tech University Health Science.
Rae Ann was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Deborah Davis; son, Tony Davis; brother, Sterling Stephenson and brother and sister-in-law; Wallace and Doris Stephenson, sisters Sterlina Stephenson and Nelda Ford; sister and brother-in-law Lavern and Charlie Moon. Also, brothers-in-law Waymon, DW and Kenneth Davis and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jimmy and Shirley Dyer.
Survivors include: sister-in-law, Wanda Cole of Sanger; sister-in-law Linda Davis of Gainesville and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers are: Tim and Troy Moon, Jimmy Meyer, Dennis Dyer, and Don Ford, and Chris Tidwell. Honorary Rex Ford
