She was born February 19, 1927 in Lois, TX to Tom Sterling and Dami Murl (Biggerstaff) Stephenson. Nancy attended Era and Bermuda Schools. She married Charlie Floyd Moon June 7, 1943 in Gainesville, Texas. She had worked at the White Orchid Café in Gainesville during the War and at Victor Equipment as an assembler. She had also worked as a cook at Valley View and McAlister ISD. Nancy was a homemaker, babysitter and a member of Valley View Church of Christ. Known as "Sis" to her siblings, "Nanny" to her grandchildren and "Nana" to her great-grandchildren, Nancy was an avid quilter. She and her husband Charlie had made many beautiful quilts together.
Graveside services for Nancy Lavern Moon are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Valley View Cemetery, with Mr. David Gray, Pastor of Hillcrest Church of Christ officiating. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
Survivors of Mrs. Moon include daughter Janet Blackwelder of Valley View, sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Sandra Moon of Valley View and Troy and Phyllis Moon of Valley View, grandchildren, Les Moon, Lynn Fisher, Jason Moon, Jeremy Moon, Clint Blackwelder, Teresa Moon and Russell Moon, great-grandchildren, Luke Moon, Lauren Moon, Landen Moon, Kyle Moon, Caleb Moon and Cooper Fisher; sisters and brother-in-law, Nelda Ford of Valley View and Rae Ann and Weldon Davis of Gainesville; sister-in-law, Doris Stephenson of Valley View; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Moon; parents, Tom and Damie Stephenson; sons, Dale and Lynn Hale Moon; sister, Sterlina Stephenson; brothers, Wallace Stephenson and Sterling Stephenson; son-in-law, Randy Blackwelder and aunts and uncles.
