Evelyn M. Schultz of State College, passed away January 8, 2021 at Juniper Village at Brookline. She was 96. Born August 8, 1924 in Mifflinburg, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Norman E. and Alverta A. “Bierly” Brungart. She was a 1942 graduate of the former Miles Township High School in Rebersburg.
In July 1949, Evelyn married Robert J. Schultz who preceded her in death on February 3, 2013. Evelyn is survived by one daughter, Karen Schultz of Florida; four granddaughters, Amanda Popp and Allison Popp Reida (Tad) both of Colorado, and Jessica Derstine Humphreys (Hayes) and Nicole Derstine Haugh (Daniel) both of Virginia; and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sons in law, Martin Higgins and Paul Derstine. In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter Sherrie Schultz Derstine and siblings, Madelyn Brungart and Eugene Brungart.
Evelyn was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading and traveling with her husband.
In accordance with family wishes there are no public services. Evelyn will be laid to rest in the Lutheran & Reformed Cemetery in Rebersburg. Contributions in memory of Evelyn may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1375 Martin Street, Ste 206, State College, PA 16803.
