Born on December 4, 1951 to Lauren and Shirley (Blunck) Buchanan, Dwight graduated from Perth High School and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences at Cobleskill College.
In 1989 Dwight was united in marriage to Rosemary Motyl, and together they raised their two children, Darril and Zandra.
Dwight adored his family, and spent as much time with them as possible. He also loved entertaining, regularly hosting parties for extended family and friends to attend.
Dwight worked at Mohasco Corporation until they relocated down south. With the education he gained from Mohasco he started Carpets "R" Affordable, which he owned and operated in Amsterdam, New York for over 35 years. He was a kind and patient businessman, who always was a pleasure to work with.
In his free time, Dwight loved to enjoy the great outdoors. His hobbies included farming, shooting, and racing snowmobiles. He also loved cars, karaoke, and listening to music. Through the years, Dwight had been a judge at horse shows throughout the state.
Dwight is survived by his loving wife Rosemary; his children, Darril L. Buchanan and Zandra (Josh) Baker; his sister, Diane Sickler; as well as one grandchild who is on her way.
Dwight will be laid to rest in Hagaman Mills Cemetery.
