FINAL CALL ANSWERED BY REV. J. T. BLISS

After many weeks of intense pain and suffering, Rev. J. T. Bliss passed away at his home here Tuesday morning. More than a year ago, Rev. Bliss submitted to an operation from which he recovered and it was hoped that his life was to be spared fro some time to come. But only temporary respite was received from the operation and he was confined to his bed through most of the winter.
Early in life he chose the ministry as his life work and during that time served 39 in fifteen congregations of the Central Illinois conference of the Methodist Episcopal church. Three years ago failing health compelled him to give up active appointments, but he has supplied pulpits throughout this part of the state since that time. His first charge was Lewistown which he accepted in 1886 and since that time he has served his denomination at Deer Creek, Castleton, Magnolia, LaFayette, Woodhull, Lostant, Sparland, Benson, Monica, Grace church of Peoria, West Jersey, Oquawka, Willimasfield and Maquon, serving the last in 1921-22.
He was born May 16, 1852, west of Princeville and passed away at his in Princeville, April 14, 1925, aged 72 years, 10 months and 28 days. He was married September 8, 1872.
Rev. Bliss made friends wherever her went. His Jovial, genial disposition won him friends, not only in the church which he served throughout central Illinois, but in communities in which he lived, so that it can be truthfully said he numbered his friends by the hundreds. Just a year ago he ran for tax collector of Princeville township and was elected by a flattering majority. In his philosophy of life, be believed that if he could not speak well of an individual it was better to say nothing at all; he recognized human frailties and made allowance for them as such.
As a servant of his Lord and Master, he was patient through all the weeks of suffering and looked forward to the time when the death angel would call him from which his earthly labors to the reward which is surely his.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and two daughters to mourn his departure—Earnest of LaFayette; Mrs. Cora Taylor of Princeville; Mrs. Hagey of Lostant; and Frank Bliss of Princeville.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Methodist church, with Rev. J. W. Dees in charge. Interment will be in Princeville Cemetery.
