Ida was the daughter of Gerd Gottfrieden Decker and his wife Anna Claaßen Heyen. She married her first cousin Gottfried Röttger Decker August 14, 1878 in Danforth, Illinois. They had ten children: Rodger Wilken; Anna Maria; George Frederick; Ulrich Janssen; Frederick Gottfried; Ida Emma; John Robert; David Daniel; Joseph Joshua; Esther Hannah. The family moved from Danforth, Illinois to Wichita Falls, Texas in February 1886. Ida died from complications of diabetes.
