Mrs. Joseph Bristley Died Saturday Morning
Mrs. Ann Bristley, wife of Joseph Bristley, and a sister of the late Samuel Williams, poor director, died at the family home, 442 North Main avenue, on Saturday morning after an illness of three years’ duration.
Mrs. Bristley was born in Wales, but had been a resident of this city for forty-eight years and was wellknown here. She was a sister of John M. Williams, the Main avenue merchant, and Henry Williams, the real estate dealer. Besides these she is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. William Gibbons, Mrs. Frank Y. Mullen and Mrs. Fred Warner, all of this city, besides two sisters, Mary Jord [George], of Wales, and Mrs. A.C. Renshaw.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon. Interment will be made in Forest Hill cemetery. (The Tribune, Scranton, PA, January 18, 1909)
The many friends of Mrs. Joseph Bristley, of 422 North Main avenue, sister of the late Samuel and Evan Williams, and one of the oldest residents of Hyde Park, will regret to learn of her death at her home on Saturday [January 16, 1909]. She had endeared herself to those who knew her best by her ever ready sympathy and assistance to them in their time of need. She is survived by her husband and three daughters, Mrs. Fred Warner, Mrs. Margaret Gibbons and Mrs. Frank Y. Mullen, of Scranton; two sisters, Mrs. Mary George, of Wales, and Mrs. Alice C. Renshaw, of New York, and two brothers, John M. and Henry M. [The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon with burial in the] Dunmore cemetery. It will be private. The Rev. Dr. R.W. MacCullough, pastor of the Jackson Street Baptist church, conducted private funeral services yesterday afternoon over the Ann Bristley, wife of Joseph Bristley, at the family home, 422 North Main avenue.
The bearers were all relatives as follows: Henry and Gordon Williams; pallbearers, John Williams, Andrew, John and George Bristley.
Miss Tydvil Jones sang selections.
Interment was made in Dunmore cemetery. (The Tribune, Scranton, PA, January 30, 1909)
