William H. “Bill” Cundiff, 79, of Arenzville passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Cedarhurst in Jacksonville. He was born December 6, 1941 in Springfield the son of Chester and Myrtle Troutt Cundiff. He married Patricia Davis on November 5, 1966 in Springfield and she survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Tammy (Mark) Holaway of Jacksonville and Tracy Roegge of Springfield; 3 grandchildren, Katheryn Zink, Alyssa (Jordan) Nicolls, Alex Roegge; 3 step-grandchildren, Caleb Holaway, Katie Holaway and Hunter Holaway; one brother, Jim Cundiff of Springfield; one sister, Rose (Chuck) Dumbris of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Chester Cundiff, Jr., Gene Cundiff, Charlie Cundiff and Bobby Cundiff and two sisters, Roberta Wilson and Pauline Feagans.
Bill retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation as a Highway Maintainer. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Arenzville United Methodist Church. He had played Minor League baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and semi-professional baseball in St. Lazare, Canada. He and his team were inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. Bill enjoyed fishing and wood working.
A private service will be held with interment at Arenzville North Cemetery.
