Margaret A. Smith, age 100, of Utica, Michigan died January 17, 2019. She was born August 12, 1918 in Cynthiana, Kentucky to the late Harry and Laura Marsh. Margaret attended school in Harrison County, Kentucky graduating from Buena Vista High School before going to Cumberland College and the University of Louisville. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry. She then moved to Detroit and worked as a medical technologist and became a partner in a medical laboratory. She later worked running the lab at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She was a big sports fan and loved watching the Detroit Red Wings hockey team and the University of Kentucky basketball team.

Margaret was a Docent for the Detroit Institute of Arts for 9 years. She was very active in her church, Grosse Pointe Memorial Presbyterian Church where she was a Stephen Minister and Deaconess. Margaret loved spending time with her family and attending the annual Marsh family reunion.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly (Ted) Harris; Siblings Dr. Virginia Bell of Lexington, Kentucky, Rees Wilcox of Waukegan, Illinois, Joy Rice of Wilmore, Kentucky, Jack (Ruby) Marsh of Cynthiana, Kentucky, Faith Blumenfeld of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Gay Perrin of Pomeroy, Ohio; grandchildren, Anne Holmes, David Harris, Amy Burris, Jeffrey Geromette and Scott Geromette; great grandchildren, Brittany May, Alex Holmes, Noah and Papi Harris, Maya, Toben, and Cameron Burris, Eva Kathleen and Daniel Paul Geromette, and Aiden Jeffrey Geromette. Great great grandchildren; Isabella, Ruby and Jack May along with many other special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen (Nee Smith) Geromette; Brothers in- law, Dr. Wayne Bell, Joseph Wilcox, King Rice, Dr. Ed Blumenfeld, and Wilbur Perrin.

Her family said "She was first a daughter! Then a sister, a friend, an aunt, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great great grandmother!"
