Lester Gottlieb Curtis, age 84, of Erie, passed away December 23, 2020, at his home. Lester was born January 13, 1936, in Dundee to the late Rockwell and Lillian (Helle) Curtis. He was a 1954 graduate of Deerfield High School, MI and went on to honorably serve in the United States Marines.

He married the love of his life, Betty Freels, on October 24, 1956, at the Chicken Hatchery in Dundee, MI. Lester supported his family as a Local 50 Union member since 1961 and was employed at Jim Wing Plumbing in Ottawa Lake, MI, for 21 years, W & F Plumbing for 5 years, Owner/Operator of Lester Curtis Plumbing in Point Place for 10 years and as Plumbing Inspector with the City of Oregon for more than 9 years, retiring in 2007.

In addition to his parents, Lester was also preceded in death by siblings, Ray Curtis, Marion Curtis and MaryLou Worrick. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Jo; children, Christine Korzeniewski, Jeffrey (Patricia) Curtis, and Vicky Curtis; siblings, Henry (Ann) Curtis and Joan Ballert; grandchildren, Sarah Curtis, Kimberly (Phillip) Gettum, and Lisa Curtis.

The family will receive guests Wednesday, December 30, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. A Celebration of His Life will begin Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. For the safety of the Curtis family and their guests, masks are required along with social distancing.
