Sid married Ella Elizabeth Smith on 20 Jul 1904 in Morgan Co AL. They were the parents of 5 sons, Oscar C, Dalton Patrick, Monroe Sidney, Albert F and Clarence Daniel Barnett. Ella was the daughter of Alford Wesley Smith and Mary Frances Whitaker. She was born on 23 Feb 1889 and died on 9 Jun 1969 in Fairfield, Jefferson Co AL. At the time of her death she was Ella Farrow.

Funeral services for J S Barnett, 60, of 7017 Second Avenue, South, who dropped dead at Terminal Station Friday night, will be announced by Brown.

Mr Barnett was news dealer on the Birmingham-Atlanta train. Officers McGuire and McFarland, who investigated with Assistant Coroner Custred, said Barnett dropped dead five minutes before the train was scheduled to leave here for Atlanta at 11:55 pm.

Barnett was said to have first been stricken in the baggage car of the train and died a few minutes after reaching the station.

Several from this place attended the funeral of Sid Barnett at New Hope Sunday afternoon.
