William J. (Bill) Allred, age 84, of Asheboro died on December 20, 2020 at his home.
Bill's body will lie in repose on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 1:00-4:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery with Mike Thompson officiating.
Bill was born in Ramseur on November 2, 1936 to James H. and Lora Lineberry Allred. He was a graduate of Ramseur High School and attended Guilford College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from the NC Department of Transportation as the Division Eight Traffic Services Supervisor with 34 years of service. He was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church. He was a 50-year member of Marietta #444 Masonic Lodge in Ramseur, past member of The Scottish Rite and Oasis Shrine Clubs and the Eastern Star.
He was a past board member of the Advisory Board of Directors of the State Employees Credit Union and The Randolph County Advisory Committee for Adult Care.
He also was a long-time coach in the Ramseur Little League Baseball and Football programs and a volunteer football coach at Ramseur High School.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Freeman Allred, son, Kenneth Dale Allred, and sister, Suzanne McRae.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Lisa Dawn Tucker (Jim) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Daniel Brown and Ashley Allred; 2 great grandchildren; brother, Eric Allred (Nancy) of Randleman; niece, Angie; nephew, Reggie; and extended family and dear friends.
