Mrs. Ruby Forrester Young, age 84, of Buford passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Peachtree Christian Hospice, following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from the Chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment following at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Farrell Presley will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.
Mrs. Young was born March 8, 1928 to the late Fred and Ella Forrester in Henagar, Alabama and was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church. Ruby was a life-long resident of Buford, sang in The Smith Quartette for many years and worked in healthcare for over 40 years. Mrs. Young was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Young; son, Timothy Don Smith; daughter, Brenda Faye Smith; and brothers, Delbert Forrester and Howard S. Forrester.
Survivors include: daughter, Phyllis Smith Baker of Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Becky Smith of Jefferson; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Orr of Buford, Mildred Smith of Buford, & Lillian Boring of Mableton; sister & brother-in-law, Blonnie & Cecil Patterson of Dallas; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Forrester of Canton; and several nieces & nephews and cousins.
