Ruth E. (Orner) Black, age 79, of Biglerville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Gettysburg Hospital.
She was born Oct. 11, 1927 in Menallen Township, a daughter of the late H. Edgar and Eva Grace (Beamer) Orner.
Mrs. Black was employed by Shank's Drive-In in Bendersville before her retirement. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Wenksville, and the Sunday School Class and WELCA of the church. She was also a member of Bendersville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, having served as chaplain for many years.
She is survived by her husband, George W. Black to whom she was married for almost 63 years; two daughters, Joanne (Black) Slonaker of Chambersburg and Barbara J. (Black) Mahoney of Biglerville; one son, William E. Black of Gettysburg; grandson, Timothy A. Cook of Aspers; granddaughter, Leah C. Wiles of Littlestown; four great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Dugan Funeral Home Inc., 111 S. Main St., Bendersville. Funeral services will be at St. James Lutheran Church, 2008 Wenksville Road, Biglerville at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, with the Rev. Robert S. McEllroy III officiating. Interment will be in Wenksville Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Saturday in the church from 1 p.m. until time of services.
