William E. Black, age 68, of Gettysburg, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was born Monday, Dec. 22, 1947 in Gettysburg, the son of the late George W. and Ruth E. (Orner) Black.

Bill graduated from Biglerville High School in 1965. He was formerly employed by GGS Information Service in York for 35 years. He was a member of Shoshonean Rod and Gun Club, C and A Hunting Club, Sinnemahoning Sportsmans Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and watching NASCAR races. He served in the Pa. Army National Guard in Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years Pamela L. (Heller) Black. He is also survived by a sister Barbara and husband Jerry Mahoney of Wauchula, Fla.; mother-in-law Evelyn L. Heller of Biglerville; four brother-in-laws, David Slonaker of Cross Forks, Scott Heller of Bendersville, Mike and wife Tierney Strickhouser of Biglerville, Barry Heller of Hanover. He was preceded in death by one sister Joanne Slonaker.

Memorial services will be held with Rev. B. Wesley Smith III officiating.
