On her marriage record her name was recorded as Harriet New, age 15, but in many other records her maiden name is given as Hatfield. On her son Thomas' death certificate her name was recorded as Harriet New, W. A. Hatfield was the informant. On her son Everett's death certificate her name was recorded as Harriett New, John Mounts was the informant. She and Mitch appear to have separated before 1930 as she was listed as a widow in that census. In 1940 she was listed as Harriet Mims, widowed, living next door to W. A. Hatfield (some relation of hers?) Maybe her actual maiden name was New, but she was raised by a Hatfield family and was better known as a Hatfield. Harriet married last Edward Webster. The obituaries of both Harriet and Edward gave their home as 3718 Church St. in Covington, Kentucky.

A family tree on Ancestry states that Harriet was the daughter of Ellison "Cotton Top" Mounts (or Hatfield), 1864 - 1890 (illegitimate son of Ellison Hatfield) and Clara New, 1866 - 1888. Although I cannot vouch for the accuracy, it would explain her two maiden names, Hatfield and New. I would also venture a guess that "Cotton Top" and Clara did not marry. "Cotton Top" was hanged for his part in the Hatfield & McCoy Feud. Harriet was probably raised by Hatfield relatives.

Harriet was the mother of:
Lona May (Mounts) Lonkar, 1907 - 2000
Mary (Mounts) Mounts, 1909 - 1986
Everett Mounts, 1911 - 1935
Mitch Mounts, 1913 - 1995
Golda (Mounts) Batinich, 1915 - 1949
Thomas J. Mounts, 1916 - 1928
Infant Son Mounts, 1920 - 1920
Josie Marie (Mounts) Abner, 1922 - 1966
Willis Mounts, 1924 - 1981
Tennis Mounts, 1924 - 1993
