A family tree on Ancestry states that Harriet was the daughter of Ellison "Cotton Top" Mounts (or Hatfield), 1864 - 1890 (illegitimate son of Ellison Hatfield) and Clara New, 1866 - 1888. Although I cannot vouch for the accuracy, it would explain her two maiden names, Hatfield and New. I would also venture a guess that "Cotton Top" and Clara did not marry. "Cotton Top" was hanged for his part in the Hatfield & McCoy Feud. Harriet was probably raised by Hatfield relatives.
Harriet was the mother of:
Lona May (Mounts) Lonkar, 1907 - 2000
Mary (Mounts) Mounts, 1909 - 1986
Everett Mounts, 1911 - 1935
Mitch Mounts, 1913 - 1995
Golda (Mounts) Batinich, 1915 - 1949
Thomas J. Mounts, 1916 - 1928
Infant Son Mounts, 1920 - 1920
Josie Marie (Mounts) Abner, 1922 - 1966
Willis Mounts, 1924 - 1981
Tennis Mounts, 1924 - 1993
