Mrs. Sadie T. Hoyle, 826 N. Seventh St., died unexpectedly Saturday at 1:25 p.m., in Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient three weeks, for treatment of a leg broken just above the knee.
Born July 16, 1894, in Cloverdale, Kan., she was the daughter of George K. and Esther Almeda Bear Roberts. With her parents she moved to Oklahoma near Sparks at the age of 11. She was married at Sparks, Dec. 17, 1911, to David Dewitt Hoyle. The family moved to Winfield and in 1938 to Arkansas City. Mr. Hoyle, a Spanish American War Veteran, worked for Cities Service Oil Co. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hoyle were avid gardeners. Hoyle died March 13, 1956.
Mrs. Hoyle was a member of Central Christian Church and the Pearson Circle. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Spanish American War Veterans, the VFW, and was a member of the council of the Ancient Toltec Rites of Topeka.
Survivors include three sons, William Luther Hoyle, Houston, Tex., Frederick Hoyle of the home, and Harry Hoyle, 926 North D St.: one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Emma) Morgan, 916 N. 11th St.; 9 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. John (Marie) Brigance, Cushing, Mrs. W.T. Byrel) Price, Sallisaw, and Mrs. Esther Bowman, Tulare, Calif.; one brother, Shelby Roberts, Brownsville, Tex. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and infant twin sons, Ross and Roy Hoyle, who died May 6, 1920.
A memorial service for the family will be held at the Grant-Elder Funeral Home tonight at 8 o'clock.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10 a.m., in the Grant-Elder Funeral Home. The Rev. Wendell Sack will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery beside her husband.
The casket will not be opened after the service but Mrs. Hoyle will lie in state at the funeral home until 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.
