Ethel Hunnicutt 91 died Sunday February 10, 2002 in Canyon. Ethel was a resident of Channing, Texas.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glendell Smith former pastor and the Rev. Royce Mason former pastor officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery.

Mrs. Hunnicutt was born May 30, 1910 in Achille, Oklahoma. She had been a Channing resident since 1938. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was the mayor for 19 years.

She was the first mayor to seek and receive grants for the township. Her goal was for Channing to continue to have a quality water system. She drove the star rural route for 52 years and was awarded certificates for excellence in service.

Her gift of love for family and friends was truly her greatest achievement. She will always be remembered for her wit, wisdom and zest for life.

Survivors include a daughter Mildred Mickey and husband Bob of Canyon; a son, Bob Hunnicutt and wife Nedra of Channing; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

The family suggests memorials be to Channing Cemetery Fund Post Office Box 1 Channing, Texas 79018.
