Shirley Wilson "Chip" Pippen, 77, of Jackson, MS., passed away on December 1, 2020, at the Veterans Hospital in New Orleans, LA.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 2 PM in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS. Rev. Scott Walter will officiate.

Chip was born on May 1, 1943, in Braxton, MS. He was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Maudie Alma Pippen.

Chip graduated from Pinola High School in 1961, upon graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force serving as an Air Policeman and then as a Sky Marshall he served a total of 8 years and was a Staff Sargent.

Upon completion of his Air Force tour, he came home and worked as a restaurant manager and beauty supply salesman, and a car salesman they told him that he would never sell any cars with a name like Shirley so they nicknamed him Chip and it stuck throughout his life. Law enforcement was the next step. Graduating from JPD academy in 1974.

He joined JPD and served as a patrol officer for years and became the Public Information Officer he also attended Southern Mississippi and received his master's in criminal justice. He retired from the Jackson Police Department after 20 years. After retirement he worked as a school resource officer at Richland high school and then for the Richland Police Department as a Captain, Chip was an ordained minister at Bethlehem Baptist Church and is still a member.

He is proceeded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Guy Pippen, two daughters, Lynn Burt Spencer (Marvin) and Lisa Burt Bennett (Robert) one brother John Pippen and one sister Faye Powell; five grandchildren, Brittany Toth, Bethany Toth, Sarah Bennett, Guy Spencer his wife Amanda Lingold Spencer and Joni Spencer Taylor (Bill) four great-grandchildren, Colson Spencer, Maddox Spencer, Izzy Spencer and Ella Spencer; his other relatives are nephews Jon Matthew Pippen, Marcus Woodrow Pippen, John Shannon Powell, Mike Powell; his niece Christy Batton, great-nieces Natalie Pippen, Emily Pippen, Sharlee Powell, great-nephews Josh Russel, Justin Russel, Michael Powell, and Weston Cotton.
