SLAIN IN MEMPHIS dated 22 Aug 1937
Felix G. Presson, citizen of
Carroll County, Shot and Instantly
Killed. His boy literally riddled
with bullets. Felix G. Presson, Nash-
Ville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Rail
road Special Agent,was fatally wounded
in a gun battle with unknown assailants
at Webster Avenue and the N.C. & St L.
tracks, behind Union Station, Memphis,
Sunday night, shortly after 9:30 p.m.
No one saw the battle, but two men,
Mr. W.K. Johnson, the freight conductor
and Mr. Henry Murphy, negro, S69 Barton,
an Oilier, heard the shots and started
toward the scene, a gravel path between
two row of box cars.

STUMBLES OVER BODY
Murphy stumbled over the body,
lying across the path. In one hand
Mr. Presson held his revolver, which
had been emptied by six shots in the
other a light, which was still burning.
About ten feet from the body a .32
caliber automatic pistol was discovered
and in the gravel were found five
exploded shells.
Mr. Presson was taken to St. Joseph's
Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon
arrival. He was shot seven time; in
the right jaw, in his back, in his
breast, above his right eye, twice in
the right arm and in the left arm.

SAW FLEEING PAIR
Captain Ernest Wattam and Squad Car

yards of some traces of the assailants,
but found few clues.
