William Leroy Rogers wrote a letter dated March 8, 1923 discussing his family, he states that "Sam McCrary was my mother's father .He was native of North Carolina and at the age of about 17, he was married to a beautiful little black-eyed girl whose name was Miss. Bettie Allen". "Grandfather and grandmother McCrary had 4 sons and 8 daughters, but in 1831, when Aunt Druza was two weeks old, our precious grandmother died, and Elder David Jacks conducted a memorial service in her memory. I knew old Brother Jacks many years. He was one of the most gifted preachers the Old Baptist had in those days. Sometime after the death of grandmother McCrary, Grandfather married Seely Rash." Three of these girls have not been located in Findagrave. The oldest girl, Sarah is reported to have married a Mr. Luallen and moved to Missouri. The last two girls born to Betty have not been located, being Prudence and Drucillia. Drucillia, born in 1831 married Harrison Wynn in Rusk County, Texas prior to the civil war. Prudence and Drucillia are belived to have moved to Texas togehter as Prudence daughter Mary Jane McCrary married Lewis Knight. They are both buried in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Young County, Texas. It is believe Prudence moved to Texas with this group.

Betty's mother, wife of Annias Allen, was Jane Elizabeth Laxton. She is belived to have been born around 1857, married Annias in 1775 in Wilks County, NC and is though to be buried next to her husband in the Allen Cemetery in Big Coon Valley. Her sister was married to William Rash and this extended family of Rash, Allen and McCrary all were living 2-4 miles northwest of the current day city of Cookville Tenness in the 1810-1825 era ( Jackson County at that time, Putman County Today)
