Larkey Henry Barnes, 71, of Fitzgerald passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, in Alapaha. His funeral service was held held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Richard Rhodes officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mark Purvis. Mr. Barnes was laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma.

Born December 19, 1948 in Ocilla, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Johnny B. Barnes and Clara Bryant Barnes. He was also
preceded in death by three brothers, Jay Barnes, Milton Lewis Barnes and Cecil Nick Barnes; one sister, Patricia Dianne Barnes; and one granddaughter, Sarah Rebecca Brantley. Before retiring, he was a truck driver for Modern Fibers in Fitzgerald and he was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife, Linda Gaskins Barnes of Fitzgerald; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vicki and Edward Thompson, Carrie and Dennis Brantley and Connie Mathis, all of Fitzgerald; Mike Merritt, Mark Merritt and Frank Ray, all whom he loved like a son; three sisters, Betty Frances Barfield of Sandersville and Alice Barnes Jernigan and Clara Mae Purvis, both of Enigma; six grandchildren, Katie Merritt, Callie Merritt, Rylea Merritt, Kevin Roscoe, Hannah Mathis and Mason Brantley (Sarah Paulk); five great-grandchildren, Lacey Merritt, Alora Jowers, Emory Avant, Trey Roscoe and Adalynn Roscoe.
