GALENA, Kan. — Mrs. Grace Abbey Swaney, 76, 1202 Wall St., died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Medical Center in Joplin following a long illness.
She was born on March 9, 1901, in Galena. She had lived in Galena all of her life. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was married to Raymond V. Swaney on June 5, 1937, in Galena. He survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Swaney, Galena route 2; a daughter, Mrs. Marvin [Lucy Ann] Peters, McPherson, Kan.; a sister, Mrs. L.A. Elwinger, Sun City, Ariz., and four grandchildren.
Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the Derfelt Chapel. The family will receive friends following the rosary. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father Max Brewington and Father Stuart-Russell officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Richard Joseph, John Joseph, Charles Schwartz, Rodger Swaney, Bernard Schnieders and J. W. Brewington.
The family will be at the home of the son, David Swaney.
