Robert R. Henderson, 90, of Fort Dodge, Iowa passed away, November 17, 2020 at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab

Robert is survived by his children, Ron Henderson of Plover, Iowa, Rhonda (Calvin) Stewart of Fort Dodge, IA, Curt (Marie) Henderson of Newton, IA, Julie (Mike) Sweeney of Sioux City, IA, Lynn Hanshaw of Salem, IA, Eugene (Amy) Henderson of North Liberty, IA, and David (Lori) Henderson of Newton, IA, siblings, Kenneth (Mary) Henderson, Linda Branch, and Ray (Joyce) Henderson of Des Moines, IA. He also has 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Monna Henderson in 2011, his parents, Raymond and Margaret Henderson, his mother in-law Lucille Henderson, his sisters, Eileen Henderson Babcock, and Virginia Henderson Helleseth, and a son in-law, Jerry Hanshaw.

Robert Raymond Henderson was born in Plover, Iowa on June 14, 1930. He graduated from Plover High School in 1946. He went on to attend Iowa State University in Ames majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He served his country during the Korean war in the Air Force from 1951 – 1955, as an air traffic controller. In 1956, he was united in marriage to Monna Wickey. Together they lived on a farm in Mallard for 3 years before moving to the family farm outside of Plover, where he continued to farm, until he retired. He loved farming and was very gifted mechanically. He also enjoyed woodworking and his many gifts of handmade items will always be cherished. He was loved dearly by family and friends, and his laughter and sharp sense of humor will be missed. He was a man of compassion for others and always put others first.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Powers Funeral Home is serving the family.
