Rose (Rozalia) was born in Satnica, Germany. She was the daughter of Michael and Anna Feit Nebenfuhr.

Rose, accompanied by her mother Anna and siblings Frank, Anna, and Mary, came to the United States on June 29, 1910 aboard the Carpathia leaving from Trieste, Italy.

Rose married Joseph Benjamin Hockenbury on June 23, 1920. They had four children: Joseph, Anna, Doris, and Arlene.
