Mary Theo Vollmer, 75, passed from this life on Oct 6, 2020. A celebration of her life will be held at Advantage Funeral Service at 7720 S. Penn in OKC on Sat, Oct 17th at 11:00AM with burial to follow at Mustang Cemetery. A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sat morning from 9-11AM.

Mary was born on October 28, 1944 in Moline, IL to George and Marie (Huizenga) Pelletier. She attended high school in Erie, IL. Following graduation, she attended the University of Illinois. Mary moved to Joplin, MO where she taught high school. In 1979, she married Rick Vollmer and a few years later they relocated to Mustang, OK where they raised their two sons Aaron and Daniel.

Mary Vollmer devoted her life to her passion, teaching English Comprehension and Literature to college students. She taught at Redlands Community College, Rose State College, and most recently Oklahoma City Community College. Mary always looked forward to the start of the semester and even though her health was failing, this year was no different.

Mary’s faith was an important part of her life. For nearly 40 years, Mary has been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She served as Choir Director for several years and remained a part of the choir for many years after. Mary was an independent woman who instilled a strong work ethic into her boys. She enjoyed bird watching, sewing and knitting, and loved her pets. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mary was a loving mother, a proud grandmother, a caring sister, and a passionate educator who touched the lives of countless family members, students, and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents George and Marie Pelletier. She is survived by her two sons: Aaron Vollmer and wife Misty and Daniel Vollmer and wife Lynn; a brother Gale Pelletier; four grandchildren: Brooke, Abbey, Avery, and Sophia Vollmer. She was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members and friends.
