J. P. Feliz Dies at 71
Joseph P. Feliz of Salinas, a Monterey County School attendance officer for 38 years, died last night in a local hospital after a six-month illness, he was 71 years old.
A native of Salinas, Feliz was active in many civic organizations His father Fred P Feliz, who died in 1957 was once mayor of Salinas, and a member of the state assembly.
Joseph Feliz a World War I veteran having served in The U. S. Navy. He was a past commander American Legion Post No 31, and a member of Last Man's Club of Salina, Salinas Lodge 204 F4&AM, Royal Arch Masons, Watsonville Chapter 22, Knights of Templar, San Jose Consistory, Scottish Rite, Islam Shrine of San Francisco. He was also a past patron of Reveille Chapter 47, Order of Eastern Star
He is survived by his widow Edith of the family home at, 281 San Benancio Rd, one son. Donald V. of Salinas, and four sisters. Mrs. Laura Collins, Mrs. Adele Eklund, and Mrs. Nell Ledyard. all of Salinas, and Mrs. Harriett Call of Mariposa.
Masonic funeral services will be held Monday at 2 pm. At Struve and Laporte Chapel, followed by inurnment at Garden of Memories
